Bel Canto Course

Every year the GSA Bel Canto summer school in Castiglione della Pescaia, Tuscany, offers twelve young singers a fully-funded, three-week immersion in Italian opera singing, with a focus on language, style, and technique in the 19th and early 20th century Italian repertoire.

To fulfill this mission, course participants have daily musical coachings, diction coachings, and Italian language sessions daily in order to help them develop their musicianship, artistry, and facility with singing in Italian.

This an intense, demanding course, but the Accademia works hard to make sure there is plenty of time built in for personal practice, rest, and recuperation.

The path to becoming a fully-professional opera singer is a long one which demands commitment, dedication and continual development throughout one’s career. The full immersion in “bel canto” music and the Italian way of life that the Georg Solti Accademia provides gives its students a unique experience, with a lasting impact on their future careers. Further, by inviting and attracting faculty some of the world’s greatest opera singers, conductors, coaches, and professionals to join our faculty and leadership team, the Accademia seeks to stay at the forefront of professional opera training- providing students with the tailored musical/vocal coaching and individual attention they need to become the best opera singers they can be.

Furthering its commitment to supporting young artists, the Accademia also regularly collaborates with concert promoters/venues, opera companies, and symphony orchestras to help place its alumni in paid, professional opportunities that help to further their careers.

Applications are closed at this time, as we have already selected students for our 2022 repetiteur course. The GSA expects the next application cycle for repetiteurs to be in the fall of 2022 for our repetiteur course in 2023.
