2025 Executive Director Mid-Year Report

It’s been an exciting start to 2025 with a remarkable edition of the Solti-Peretti Repetiteur Course at the Fondazione Cini in Venice. We had the opportunity to celebrate exceptional talent and our longstanding partnership with the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation, which has supported our work since its early days in 2004. We look forward to continuing this meaningful collaboration and developing future projects together.

I am also deeply grateful to our Florentine partners at the Mascarade Opera Foundation, whose ongoing support continues to strengthen our mission. Our thanks also goes to our institutional partner the Fondazione Giorgio Cini.

This year also marked the beginning of a new friendship with the Venice Gardens Foundation, led by the visionary Adele Rebaudengo. Adele, a dear friend, generously hosted our closing dinner in the beautifully restored Giardini Reali. These local partnerships—in a city so dear to the Accademia—are vital to our presence in Venice. None, of course, is more essential than our collaboration with the Fondazione Cini. Their warm annual welcome to this temple of culture makes it possible to hold our masterclasses in Venice, and we are immensely grateful. In a city as complex and fragile as Venice, it is these relationships that truly make the difference. We remain committed to strengthening our presence here—a city in which Maestro Solti himself once dreamed of creating a festival.

In just four weeks, we will welcome twelve young singers to Castiglione della Pescaia for our Bel Canto Course. This is always a highly anticipated and special moment in our year. We are particularly excited about this year’s intake—and I was amazed to realize that we now have artists born in 2007 joining us!

I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Rolex, whose continued investment supports not only our work with young opera singers, but the operatic world at large.

Another exciting development, following the success of last year’s anniversary concert, is our invitation to return annually to Budapest. This year, on October 19th, we will open their concert season with a performance at the Opera House, showcasing some of our younger alumni. We’ll also return to the Solti Hall at the Liszt Academy, where Jonathan Papp will lead a masterclass focused on the Italian bel canto repertoire. We are delighted to offer this opportunity to the vocal students of the Liszt Academy.

To all our wonderful Solti supporters: your generosity makes the Accademia possible. Every single one of you plays a vital role, enabling us to offer places at the Solti Accademia free of charge. We are deeply grateful, and we hope you enjoy attending performances across the world—spotting the names of artists you have helped nurture and bring to the stage.
