For singers applying to our summer “Bel Canto” course (23 June to 12 July, 2020), there will be two rounds to the audition.
Round One (pre-screening) is taped and requires:
- a CV/Resume with Headshot attached (Max File Size: 500kb)
- Two links to online video recordings to be submitted alongside the online application form.
Your video recordings should be of two arias sung in Italian by Italian ‘bel canto’ composers (i.e: Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, Verdi, Puccini, Cilea, Leoncavallo, Mascagni etc). One recording may be a song by any of the above composers, or Tosti, Respighi, etc. Applications with inappropriate repertoire will not be considered. To avoid all reasonable doubt: arias by Mozart and Handel will not be accepted in either round. Media files should be uploaded directly to our application form. For questions, or if you have any problems, please email Roberta Biondi at firstname.lastname@example.org.
There is a €35 fee to application fee, which can be paid once you submit your application.
The deadline for applications is Friday the 22nd of November, 2019
Round Two is a live audition held in London on 22 or 23 January 2020. Applicants from Round One will be informed no later than Friday 13 December whether or not they have been invited to a live audition. Candidates in the second round that are not resident in the EU, or are unable to attend a live audition in London, will be offered an alternate method of audition submission (ie sending additional recordings). At Round Two you should present three arias, or two arias and one song by Italian ‘bel canto’ composers (as above). Repertoire must be sung in Italian. The same repertoire from Round One maybe used in Round Two, with the addition of an extra aria, or song.
